Flash navigation in browser history

I have just written a workaround for the problem that navigating through a flash movie will not show up in the browser’s history. So if a visitor uses the Back button, the page embedding the flash movie will be replaced by the one in the history of the browser. This can be very annoying for visitors to your flash sites.
With this solution you can now navigate through a flash movie and use the browser’s Back and Forward buttons to go back and forward through the history within the flash movie.
Also, the correct page title will be shown in the browser’s title bar.

Tested in IE (Win) and Firefox (Win/Mac).
Works with adobe’s Active Content Update solution for embedding flash movies, Deconcept’s SWFObject and basic ‘object/embed’ embedding.

Demo with source code (sparsely documented)

Wordpress plugin: front-end file upload v1.10

wordpress plugin

I have just put online a new version (v1.10) of the frontend file upload plugin for wordpress.
Changes:

  • Files are now written to a folder created for each new job.
  • Optionally, upload data can be written to a textfile that will be created alongside the uploaded file.
  • Bug fix in optional password protection occurring when password was left blank in options page.

Thanks to J.K. from N.Y. for the suggestions. I am glad to find the plugin is useful!

You can download it here.

My part in this was marginal, as only minimal coding was necessary.
